State House Mourns Death of Media Aide Peter Onwubuariri

Peter Onwubuariri, an Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, died on Monday evening at the age of 48 after a prolonged illness. His death was confirmed by his wife, Catherine Ezinna Onwubuariri.

Onwubuariri was a veteran journalist who previously worked with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) before joining the State House. He had been receiving treatment for about a month at the Kano Cancer Hospital, with his treatment authorized by the Kano State Government.

His remains were released by the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Tuesday and are being transported to Owerri, Imo State, for burial. The handover of his remains was conducted by Oche Echeija Egwa, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, on behalf of Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

The event was witnessed by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, and Sulaiman Dederi, Chairman of the Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists. Governor Yusuf expressed condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Presidential Media Unit, and Onwubuariri's family, praising his contributions to the Presidency.
