Ooni Donates ₦100m to Support Iru Ekun Security Network

On Tuesday, during a courtesy visit to the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, announced a donation of ₦100 million and a brand-new Hilux vehicle to support the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security outfit founded by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho. A statement from the palace, signed by Moses Olafare, the Director of Media and Public Affairs, indicated that the donation is part of efforts to bolster community security across Yorubaland.

The Ooni emphasized the importance of security for sustainable development and praised Igboho for his initiative. He called for support from other Yoruba stakeholders to enhance community safety.

In response, Sunday Igboho expressed gratitude for the support and described the Ooni as a father figure to the Yoruba people. He also mentioned plans for a regional security summit to discuss strategies for addressing insecurity in the region, pending the Ooni’s approval.
