OPay Denies Shutdown Rumors, Assures Customers of Safety

OPay, a leading digital payment platform, has dismissed a viral notice claiming the company would suspend operations indefinitely starting September 1, 2026. The notice, labeled “Official Note,” falsely advised customers to withdraw their funds to avoid inconvenience.

Folayemi Joshua, the Head of Corporate Communications at OPay, labeled the notice as completely false and urged customers to disregard it. He reassured users that OPay is fully operational and has no plans to halt services.

The company identified several discrepancies in the fraudulent document, including an outdated logo and misspelling of the brand name. An anonymous OPay employee also confirmed the misinformation, stating that the company is not closing down.

A customer, identified as Lady K, expressed shock at the false information and urged OPay to combat such misinformation across social media platforms.
