OPay Digital Services Limited has officially rejected a fraudulent notice circulating on social media, which falsely claimed that the fintech company would suspend all operations starting September 1, 2026. The misleading message, labeled as an "Official Note," urged customers to withdraw their funds immediately to avoid inconvenience, causing panic among some users.

OPay clarified that its offices in Lagos and Abuja are fully operational, and all services are accessible without disruption. The company emphasized the importance of relying on official communication channels for accurate information.

This incident is not the first time OPay has had to address false rumors; in March 2026, it denied claims of a shutdown due to alleged tax issues, explaining that the situation was related to an industry-wide directive. OPay has faced similar misinformation in the past, highlighting the rapid spread of financial misinformation online and the potential risks it poses to customers.
