Opposition Parties Unite for 2027 Election Strategy

At the G100 First Summit of Party Leaders and Stakeholders held in Abuja on Monday, opposition parties in Nigeria, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP), reached an agreement to negotiate a framework for cooperation ahead of the 2027 general election. Key leaders present included PRP National Chairman Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle, SDP National Chairman Shehu Musa Gabam, and NDC National Chairman Cleopas Moses.

They agreed to form five working groups tasked with producing key documents, including a “Roadmap to a Common Presidential Candidate,” within four weeks. Additionally, three standing coalition organs will be established: the Central Leadership Committee, Publicity and Communication Committee, and Legal Committee.

G100 facilitator Salihu Lukman emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties, citing their collective failure to secure victory in the 2023 presidential election due to divided votes.
