G100 to Host Opposition Summit Ahead of 2027 Elections

The G100 has announced the First Summit of Key Stakeholders of Nigeria's Opposition, scheduled for Monday, August 31, at the Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja. This summit aims to facilitate formal negotiations among the leadership of six principal opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Peoples Movement (APM), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The theme of the summit is "A Framework for Opposition Cooperation and Coordination," and it will commence at 10:00 a.m. The G100 previously published a document titled the Doctrine of a Necessary Democratic Opposition on August 2, 2026, which led to consultations identifying areas of agreement among the parties.

Salihu Moh. Lukman, representing the G100, emphasized that cooperation does not require any party to merge into another.

The summit will not decide on presidential candidacy but aims to establish a structure for future negotiations. Proposals include creating five specialized Working Groups to develop key documents for opposition cooperation.
