Makinde Strengthens Security After Oriire Abduction

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has committed to enhancing security measures in the state after the abduction of pupils and a teacher from the Ahoro Esinl Yawota Community in Oriire Local Government Area. In a statewide broadcast, he expressed immense relief at the safe return of the victims and gratitude to the community for their support during the crisis.

Makinde paid tribute to the deceased, including Mr. Joel Adesiyan and Mr.

Michael Oyedokun, whose murders during the incident shocked the nation. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel, including members of the Oyo State Amotekun Corps, who lost their lives during rescue operations.

The governor urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. He announced immediate measures to tighten surveillance around access routes to the Old Oyo National Park and called for an independent international investigation into the abduction, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in addressing security challenges.
