Senate Urges FG to Intensify Fight Against Bandits

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Senate called on the federal government to sustain and intensify military operations against bandits and terrorists nationwide. This call follows the successful rescue of 46 pupils and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The Senate, led by Opeyemi Bamidele, emphasized the need for prompt payment of statutory death benefits and welfare entitlements to the families of fallen heroes. They commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive leadership in strengthening Nigeria's security.

The operation resulted in the arrest of eight terrorists and the neutralization of several others. However, the Senate cautioned Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde against trivializing the security situation and urged him to refrain from politicizing the matter.

The Senate recognized the sacrifices made by military personnel, including Lieutenant Isaac N., Private Sila Musa, and Sergeant Abena John, during the rescue operation.
