Oscar Retires at 34 After Cardiac Incident

Oscar, the former Chelsea midfielder, has officially retired from professional football at the age of 34 due to health complications. On November 5, he suffered a cardiac incident during a routine medical examination, which resulted in hospitalization for five days.

The medical issue was identified as vasovagal syncope, causing a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate, affecting cerebral blood flow. His club, Sao Paulo, confirmed the news on Saturday.

Oscar's contract with Sao Paulo was set to expire in 2027, marking the end of his career after returning to the club where he began. He previously played five seasons with Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles and the Europa League, before moving to Shanghai Port in 2017, where he won three Chinese Super League titles.

Oscar also represented Brazil 48 times, winning the FIFA Confederations Cup and participating in the 2014 World Cup.
