Osimhen Explains Rejection of Captain's Armband in Match

In a recent match where Galatasaray secured a 3-1 victory, Victor Osimhen, who is 27 years old, chose to reject the captain's armband offered to him after Luca Torreira, who was the stand-in captain, was substituted in the 79th minute. Club captain Mauro Icardi did not start the match, and vice-captain Abdülkerim Bardakcı and Kaan Ayhan were unavailable, leaving Torreira to lead the team.

Following the substitution, Ilkay Gundogan, who had recently moved from Manchester City, was handed the armband. Osimhen, a former Napoli striker, expressed that receiving the armband felt strange and emphasized Gundogan's worthiness as a leader, describing him as someone he deeply respects and values.

Osimhen scored his 10th goal of the league campaign in the 83rd minute, intercepting a pass from the goalkeeper, dribbling past the shot-stopper, and slotting the ball into an empty net to clinch the three points for the league leaders.
