Osubi Airport Denies Bird Strike Allegation by Air Peace

Osubi Airport, located in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, refuted allegations of a bird strike involving an Air Peace aircraft. The incident was reported to have occurred upon landing on June 5, with Air Peace stating that their flight experienced a bird strike.

However, Winston Egwuatu, the airport manager, emphasized that preliminary investigations indicated no such strike occurred at Osubi Airport. The investigations revealed that the aircraft, an Embraer E195, had no evidence of a bird strike during post-landing inspections.

The pilot reported hearing a sound 200 meters from the airport approach, but wildlife hazard control officials found no bird activity or carcasses around the runway. Egwuatu noted that the airport has celebrated nearly two years without a bird strike, marking a significant safety milestone.

He also dismissed claims that Air Peace had suspended operations at Osubi Airport, stating that the airport had not received any notification regarding such a suspension.
