ODA Hosts Election Integrity Summit for Osun 2026

The Osun Development Association (ODA) convened the Osun 2026 Election Integrity Summit in Osogbo to address issues surrounding the upcoming governorship elections scheduled for August. Governor Ademola Adeleke, alongside Deputy Prince Kola Adewusi, stressed the importance of a violence-free electoral process.

The summit aimed to foster a peaceful political environment and included various stakeholders such as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, political parties, and civil society organizations. Dr.

Tunji Olugbodi, chairman of ODA's leadership committee, noted that the summit would set a national benchmark for credible elections. A key outcome of the summit was the formal unveiling of a Peace Charter, which binds political parties and candidates to non-violence during campaigns.

Dr. Segun Aina highlighted the role of faith leaders and traditional institutions in ensuring compliance with the charter, which will be monitored post-election to evaluate adherence to commitments made during the summit.
