Senator Fadahunsi Grilled by Police Over Alleged Threat

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, was interrogated by the Osun State Police Command for nearly two hours regarding an alleged inciting statement made during a protest at the Owa Obokun of Ilesaland's palace. This police invitation followed a demand from Governor Ademola Adeleke for Fadahunsi's arrest after a video surfaced where he allegedly stated, “kill any Accord member.” The protest was sparked by the reported killing of 12 All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Ilesa.

Fadahunsi denied making any threats, asserting that he called for APC supporters to “kill Accord Party in Osun with their votes.” He claimed that over 40 APC members had been killed in his district over the past year. After his interrogation, Fadahunsi was released and expressed concerns about the security situation in Osun East, alleging that Governor Adeleke was neglecting his own hometown while the district became a battleground.

He expressed confidence in a strong turnout for the APC's governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), despite intimidation from political thugs.
