Fadahunsi Clarifies Comments Amid Police Interrogation

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, was interrogated at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo on Wednesday concerning a viral video in which he allegedly directed his supporters to kill members of the Accord Party. Fadahunsi explained that his comments about “killing” referred to defeating the Accord Party with votes in the August 15 governorship election, not physical violence.

He claimed the video was edited and his Yoruba remarks were misinterpreted. Fadahunsi arrived at the police command with the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale.

Governor Ademola Adeleke had previously accused Fadahunsi of inciting violence and called for an investigation, describing the remarks as a potential national security threat. Amnesty International also urged authorities to investigate the allegations and hold Fadahunsi accountable if found culpable, stating that the remarks could incite violence ahead of the election.
