Osun APC to Donate Vehicles to Police Amid Opposition

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its intention to donate operational vehicles to the police to improve security in the region, despite significant opposition from the Accord Party. The Accord Party, led by chairman Victor Akand, has urged the police to reject the donation, warning that it may involve the police in criminal enterprises.

The APC, represented by spokesperson Kola Olabisi, maintains that the current local government chairmen, elected under the APC platform, are legally occupying their positions and that their support for the police is crucial in the fight against crime. The party criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for his inability to address security issues effectively and emphasized that the APC chairmen's contributions should be recognized rather than dismissed.

The political tension stems from the ongoing legal disputes regarding the legitimacy of local government elections held on October 15, 2022, under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's administration, with the next elections scheduled for February 22, 2025.
