Osun Assembly Passes Local Government Amendment Bill

On March 2, 2026, the Osun State House of Assembly successfully passed the Osun State Local Government Amendment Bill No. 2, 2026, during a plenary session held in Osogbo. The bill, which amends the Osun State Local Government Law, was presented by Mr.

Lawal Bamidel, the chairman of the assembly's public accounts committee. Following the presentation, Mr.

Adebayo Egbedun, the speaker of the assembly, called for the adoption of the committee's report. Mr.

Babajid Adewumi, the majority leader, moved a motion for the bill's third reading, which was subsequently passed. A clean copy of the bill will be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent.

The assembly adjourned its sitting following the passage of the bill.
