Osun Assembly Passes UNIOSUN Amendment Bill 2026

On Thursday, the Osun State House of Assembly passed the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Establishment Amendment Bill 2026 into law. The Speaker, Rt.

Hon. Adewale Egbedun, stated that the legislation aims to strengthen UNIOSUN and promote public interest in its development. The bill was introduced by Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adekunle Emmanuel, and seconded by Hon. Sanmi Areoye.

Egbedun emphasized that the amendment would provide a stronger legal framework for the university's administration and development, allowing experienced personnel to contribute their expertise. He noted that the bill would inspire contributions to the institution's growth and enhance its capacity to meet educational needs.

Before the final passage, the Assembly convened as a Committee of the Whole to review and amend the bill. The Speaker indicated that remaining administrative processes would be completed before producing the final copy, which will then be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent.
