Adeleke to Establish Inquiry Post-2026 Osun Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State stated that an independent commission of inquiry will be set up immediately following the August 15, 2026 governorship election to investigate reported killings and acts of violence associated with the electoral process. This announcement was made during a press interaction in Osogbo, the state capital.

Adeleke expressed sympathy for the families of victims of election-related violence, emphasizing that political differences should not lead to loss of life. The commission will investigate the circumstances surrounding the violence and recommend measures to hold culprits accountable, irrespective of their political affiliations or positions.

The governor also conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during this election period, asserting that every life lost is significant. Furthermore, he committed to establishing a framework to support and compensate affected families and to honor the victims, urging residents to prioritize unity beyond the electoral process.
