NCAF Demands Answers on Cracked Lameco Flyover in Osogbo

The National Citizens’ Advocacy Forum (NCAF) has formally requested detailed technical explanations from the Osun State Ministry of Works concerning the materials, construction methods, compaction procedures, and quality-control tests used in the construction of the Lameco flyover in Osogbo, which has reportedly exhibited structural defects and cracks. NCAF, represented by Abiola Olawale, the Civil Engineer and Director of Operations, has raised concerns about why a newly constructed flyover would show such issues.

The forum has also petitioned the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) for an independent technical assessment of the project. They urged these regulatory bodies to scrutinize the design, construction methods, materials, and quality-control procedures involved.

Furthermore, NCAF called for a review of the roles of senior officials in the Osun State Ministry of Works, specifically recommending an independent examination of the permanent secretary, Bashiru Bello, and the director of Highways, Moruf Ojebode, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.
