Structural Defects Force Closure of Osogbo Flyover

The Lameco flyover in Osogbo, Osun State, was closed to traffic by the state government due to structural defects observed on Friday. A video circulating on social media revealed visible cracks on one lane of the bridge.

Victor Akande, Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, attributed the defects to vandalism by opposition elements, suggesting a calculated attempt by the APC to undermine the current administration ahead of the governorship election. He urged security agencies to investigate the incident.

In contrast, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council expressed serious concerns regarding the flyover's construction quality, citing preliminary findings of significant structural defects, including a deep pothole. Remi Omowaiye, Head of Media and Publicity for the council, stated that these issues pose a direct threat to road users' safety.

The council advised motorists to avoid using the flyover until it is certified safe by independent experts. The flyover was commissioned on July 1 by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
