APC Legal Team Denies Petition Against Adeleke

The legal team representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Osun governorship election has distanced itself from a petition allegedly filed against Governor Ademola Adeleke by the party and its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kunle Adegoke stated that the legal team was not involved in the petition's preparation or filing.

After reviewing the election's conduct and outcome, the team advised Oyebamiji against pursuing the matter at the tribunal, believing that further litigation could heighten political tensions in Osun. Adegoke noted that the recommendation was made after consultations with Oyebamiji and other party leaders following the Independent National Electoral Commission's announcement of Adeleke as the winner.

He emphasized that the decision was consistent with Oyebamiji's congratulatory message to Adeleke, asserting that it would be contradictory for the candidate to accept the result and then authorize a petition against it. The team included other senior lawyers and maintained that their stance was based on principled judgment rather than personal animosity.
