DLA Declines Participation in Osun 2026 Governorship Election

Memeh, the National Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), announced on Tuesday that the party will not participate in the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 2026. This decision stems from the party's late registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission on February 5, 2026, after the electoral timetable had already been established.

Memeh emphasized that the inability to field a candidate does not reflect the party's political relevance or interest in Osun's future. He stated that the DLA is monitoring political developments and may endorse a candidate based on their competence, integrity, and commitment to good governance.

The party aims to support candidates whose programs align with its ideals, avoiding decisions based on political convenience or personal relationships. Memeh also inaugurated the Osun State chapter of the DLA under Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, commending the local leadership for establishing a solid foundation for the party's growth.
