APC Candidate Urges British Mission to Monitor Osun Election

Bola Oyebamiji, the APC governorship candidate for Osun State, called on the British High Commission to closely monitor the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. During a courtesy visit to the APC campaign office in Osogbo, Oyebamiji expressed concerns regarding alleged political violence and intimidation targeting APC members, citing incidents from the 2022 elections that created anxiety ahead of the upcoming polls.

He reported that approximately 40 APC members had been victims of politically motivated attacks across various parts of Osun State. Oyebamiji urged the Nigeria Police and security agencies to conduct thorough investigations into these allegations.

He appealed for international observation to ensure a credible and peaceful electoral process. Additionally, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for economic sanctions and visa bans against political figures allegedly involved in promoting violence ahead of the elections.

The APC accused Adeleke of misleading the British delegation regarding the political situation in the state.
