IGP Disu: No Impunity for Political Violence in Osun

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Disu declared that individuals involved in political violence in Osun State will face the full weight of the law, stating that no one will commit crimes and go unpunished. Speaking in Osogbo on Friday, IGP Disu traveled from Abuja to meet with stakeholders ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial elections.

He stressed that the electoral process should not be treated as a war, assuring that the police will provide security during the elections. IGP Disu mentioned receiving several reports of violence linked to different political parties and emphasized the importance of a peaceful campaign environment.

He noted that even if a governor's child commits a crime, they will be arrested. He reiterated the Nigerian Police Force's commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all political activities and concluded by assuring that stakeholders will collaborate with the police to maintain peace during the elections.
