IGP Disu Ensures Security and Neutrality for Osun Poll

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, assured stakeholders in Osun State of adequate security and the neutrality of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) ahead of the August 15 governorship election. During a meeting with civil society organizations, including Yiaga Africa led by Samson Itodo, he acknowledged concerns regarding potential violence, voter intimidation, and political thuggery.

IGP Disu emphasized that the NPF is an impartial institution with no preferred candidate or political party, stating their commitment to ensuring that the lawful choice of the electorate prevails. He confirmed that police officers assigned to election duties would enforce the law without bias.

Adequate personnel and operational assets have been deployed across Osun State, with intensified intelligence gathering to mitigate security threats. Disu warned that electoral offences would be prosecuted regardless of political affiliation, urging political parties and candidates to conduct themselves responsibly.
