INEC and NIGAWD Promote Inclusive Governance in Osun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Gender and Advocacy for Women Development (NIGAWD) partnered to advocate for inclusive and transparent governance in Osun State. Abimbola Aladejar Salako, the South West Coordinator for NIGAWD, stressed that credible elections are essential for public confidence and require a sound legal framework.

She called for comprehensive electoral reforms through the Youth Electoral Reform Project (YERP) Naija, which aims to engage young people in the electoral process. Salako noted that the 2026 Osun State governorship elections present an opportunity to implement the provisions of the new electoral act effectively.

Meanwhile, violence erupted at a political mobilization meeting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osogbo, where two members were allegedly killed, and others injured by gunmen dressed in police uniforms.
