Osun LG Vice Chairman Held for 22 Days After Abduction

Mr. Debo Farounbi, the vice chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area in Osun State, was abducted on June 9, around 10 PM, near the Osun-Kwara boundary.

Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, took him while three others were initially captured but later escaped during a gunfight involving local military forces. The abductors contacted Farounbi's family, demanding a ransom of N200 million for his release, which has since been negotiated down to N50 million.

The family is reportedly struggling to raise the amount. As of the latest update, there has been no release, and concerns for Farounbi's health are growing.

Abiodun Ojelabi, the state police public relations officer, confirmed that efforts are ongoing to secure Farounbi's safe return, and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
