Osun Police Deny DPO Transfer Linked to Okinni Shooting

The Osun State Police Command has refuted claims that the transfer of Division Police Officer (DPO) Dada was connected to a shooting incident that occurred in Okinni. The police stated that the transfer was part of a routine administrative exercise involving 20 DPOs across the state.

This clarification followed allegations made by Pastor Victor Akand, the Osun State Chairman of Accord Party, who claimed that three traditional chiefs were injured in a shooting on Saturday night. Akand alleged that the DPO's transfer facilitated the evacuation of a victim to the hospital after the attack, which he described as politically motivated, targeting individuals believed to be sympathizers of the Accord Party.

In response, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the police public relations officer, labeled the claims linking the DPO's transfer to the incident as false and misleading, capable of creating unnecessary tension. The police confirmed that investigations into the shooting are ongoing and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.
