Police Investigate Attack on INEC Officials in Osun

In Osun, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were attacked by approximately ten armed thugs while distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at Oyinlola DC Primary School, located in Ward 2 of Odo-Otin Local Government Area. The assailants reportedly fired shots into the air and stole three packs of PVCs.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun, Ibrahim Gotan, condemned the attack and has ordered a thorough investigation aimed at identifying, arresting, and prosecuting those responsible. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the spokesperson for the police command, stated that tactical and intelligence resources have been deployed to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen PVCs.

He urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding, warning against any actions that could further disrupt peace. Ojelabi also mentioned that the police had restored order in Ile-Ife after a separate incident involving unruly thugs, reaffirming the police's commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property.
