Osun Police Parade Four Suspects in Rifle Snatching Case

On Thursday, the Osun Police, led by Commissioner Ibrahim Zungura, paraded four suspects—Sikiru Ademola Adedeji (21), Olalere Taiwo (21), Olalere Ademola (26), and Bankole Abiodun (20)—in connection with an attack on policemen in Ikire, Osun State. The incident occurred on Monday when approximately 30 hoodlums attacked a police rescue team at Naira and Kobo Park, snatching an AK-47 rifle, which was later recovered.

The attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several policemen. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are affiliated with a political thug faction led by a man named Ayewo, who allegedly fired the snatched rifle.

The police have initiated a manhunt for Ayewo and other accomplices. During questioning, suspect Sikiru Ademola Adedeji mentioned Senator Akogun Lere as their superior and described the events leading to the attack, including a directive from Ayewo to leave town.
