APC Delays Congratulation to Adeleke After Osun Election

Oluwole Oke, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign in Osun State, announced that the party will not hastily congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke after his victory in the August 15 governorship election. Oke stated in an interview with Arise News that the APC is currently reviewing the election results and will determine its next steps after a thorough examination of the records.

He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu's congratulatory message to Adeleke differs from the party's stance, which is focused on assessing the electoral process. Oke expressed disagreement with the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) declaration, asserting that Adeleke did not secure the highest valid votes.

INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord candidate, as the winner with 511,067 votes, defeating APC's Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won in 11, resulting in a margin of 66,252 votes.

Oke confirmed that the APC has initiated an audit of the election and is collecting relevant result sheets for review.
