Bishops Endorse Adeleke for Osun Governorship Re-election

The World Bishops Council (WBC), Africa Chapter, and the Religious Engagement (Christianity) Committee have endorsed Senator Ademola Adeleke for re-election as Governor of Osun State in the upcoming August 15 governorship election. In a statement from Osogbo, Bishop Mike Adebomi, the Osun State leader of the WBC, expressed support for Adeleke, describing him as a leader with “divine duties” yet to be fulfilled.

The council praised Adeleke’s peaceful disposition and inclusive governance style, highlighting his administration's success in fostering harmonious relations among religious groups, contrasting it with previous periods marked by conflicts between Christians and Muslims. The bishops noted that some individuals associated with past religious disputes are seeking the governorship again but affirmed that Adeleke has restored peace and deserves another term.

They urged eligible voters in Osun State to support Adeleke and called on President Bola Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and security agencies to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
