Davido Claims Soldiers Blocked His Entry to Osun Election

On August 15, 2026, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, claimed that soldiers were attempting to stop him from entering Osun State as residents prepared to vote in the governorship election. He made this allegation via a post on his verified X account, stating he had been informed of the attempts to restrict his movement.

Davido emphasized that every Nigerian has the right to movement. This claim arose amid heightened security measures implemented by the Nigeria Police Force, which included a movement restriction effective from 12:00 midnight on August 14 until 6:00 p.m. on August 15, aimed at ensuring a peaceful election.

Davido is the nephew of the current governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is contesting for re-election under the Accord Party against Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress. The election has garnered significant attention due to the political dynamics in Osun State.
