Fadahunsi Criticized for Alleged Violence Remarks Ahead of Election

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has faced criticism following a video that allegedly shows him encouraging supporters to attack members of the Accord Party before the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State. The video, which circulated on social media and was shared by Afrobeats star David Adeleke (Davido), raised concerns about political violence and voter intimidation.

In the video, Fadahunsi spoke in Yoruba, referring to the yellow cap associated with the Accord Party and allegedly calling for attacks on its members. His remarks have drawn significant backlash amid heightened political tensions in Osun State.

Fadahunsi later issued a statement from his media office in Osogbo, clarifying that his comments were intended as a political metaphor, urging APC supporters to defeat the Accord Party through votes, not violence. He emphasized the need for peaceful conduct during the election and called on security agencies to ensure voter safety.
