Police Summon Fadahunsi Over 'Kill Accord' Remarks

Francis Fadahunsi, the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, has been summoned by the Nigeria Police following his controversial remarks during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Ilesa. Allegedly, he directed his supporters to "kill" members of the rival Accord Party, which sparked widespread outrage on social media.

The police's invitation, dated August 11, 2026, requests Fadahunsi to clarify his statements at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo on August 12 at 11:00 am. The letter, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the commissioner of police elections in Osun State, cites concerns that Fadahunsi's comments were threatening and inciting violence.

A video circulating on X showed him allegedly instructing supporters to attack Accord Party members. However, Fadahunsi's team contends that his remarks were metaphorical, urging supporters to reject the Accord Party peacefully at the ballot box during the upcoming August 15 governorship election.
