Police Summon Senator Fadahunsi Over Election Threat

The Osun State Police Command summoned Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi regarding an alleged comment in which he reportedly threatened members of the Accord Party ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. Commissioner of Police Samuel Etaifo stated that Fadahunsi was invited to clarify his remarks and to help prevent escalating tensions in the state.

The police condemned the alleged statement and urged political leaders to exercise restraint during the electoral process. Fadahunsi reportedly made the controversial remark in Yoruba during an engagement at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland in Ilesa, suggesting that any Accord Party member seen in Ilesa before the election should be killed.

This statement drew significant reactions, including a call for Fadahunsi's arrest from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who raised the issue with Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. The police reiterated their commitment to neutrality and public peace during the election.
