Osun Governor Declares Public Holiday for PVC Collection

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke declared a work-free day on Tuesday for all public servants in the state to enable them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election. This directive was communicated through a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, and applies to all public servants, including local government workers and tertiary institution staff.

The Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, signed the circular, which exempted essential duty workers such as medical personnel and security operatives. Governor Adeleke urged eligible voters to utilize the day to collect their voter cards, emphasizing the importance of voting in shaping the future of Osun State.

This announcement followed reports of violence involving suspected thugs defying a government suspension of NURTW activities, with eyewitnesses claiming police escorted the thugs. The governor's previous directive aimed to restore peace in the parks, ordering security agencies to arrest anyone operating under the union's name.
