Fadahunsi Urges Voter Monitoring Amid Violence Concerns

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, addressed supporters at polling unit 1, NUD Primary School, Collation Centre in Ilase-Ijesa, urging them to monitor voter choices during the ongoing Osun State governorship election. His remarks, made in Yoruba, suggested that those who vote contrary to expectations are not true indigenes of Ijesa.

This statement came shortly after Amnesty International Nigeria announced plans to launch a global campaign against him for comments that could incite violence ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election. Isa Sanusi, Country Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, stated that the organization would draw international attention to Fadahunsi's remarks, which were perceived as encouraging attacks on opposing political party members.

The Osun State Police Command has also invited Fadahunsi to clarify his statements made during a political gathering in Ilesa, following a viral video that raised concerns about his comments.
