Amnesty International Demands Accountability for Fadahunsi

Isa Sanusi, Country Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, stated that the organization would hold Senator Fadahunsi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) accountable for remarks that could incite violence during elections. Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, was recorded saying, "kill them wherever you find them," which Amnesty described as exceptional and reckless.

Following the backlash, the Osun State Police Command summoned Fadahunsi, who was questioned for about two hours. Sanusi emphasized that advocacy of hatred and incitement to violence should be treated seriously under Nigerian law and international human rights standards.

He asserted that Amnesty would continue to advocate for accountability and draw international attention to the issue. The organization condemned Fadahunsi's comments, stating that authorities have an obligation to prohibit such advocacy when it incites hostility or violence, particularly ahead of the Osun governorship election.
