Large Voter Turnout in Ikire Amid Election Delays

On Saturday, a significant turnout of voters was recorded in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, as residents participated in the gubernatorial election. Voters began arriving at polling units as early as 7 a.m., checking the registers to confirm their names prior to accreditation.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission arrived at some polling units before 7 a.m. to prepare for the accreditation and voting process. The early presence of voters and electoral officials contributed to an orderly start.

Unarmed police officers were deployed at polling centers, while armed security personnel and soldiers were stationed at strategic locations to maintain peace and protect voters. Despite the election activities, vehicular movement continued along the Ife-Ibadan Road, and the atmosphere remained largely peaceful with no reports of violence.

The APC candidate, whose hometown is Ikire, was expected to cast his ballot at Ward 9, Unit 3, AUD School, Atile, Ikire, attracting supporters and observers.
