Otti Compensates Landowners, Launches Electric Bus Scheme

On February 23, 2023, Abia State Governor Alex Otti disclosed that the government had compensated 4,000 out of nearly 10,000 landowners affected by the Nsulu airport project. This announcement was made during a monthly media chat at the Government House in Umuahia.

Otti explained that the compensation process is being handled systematically to ensure transparency and fairness, emphasizing that the names of claimants will be published to uphold community spirit. He assured that the remaining claimants will also receive compensation.

Additionally, Otti announced the launch of a subsidized electric bus scheme, named Green Shuttle, which will commence operations on March 1, 2023. The buses will charge a token fare of 800 Naira for the Umuahia to Aba route and 1,000 Naira for Umuahia to Ohafia, with a cashless payment system in place.
