MASSOB Declares Nnamdi Kanu Not Biafra's Supreme Leader

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has publicly stated that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not the "Supreme Leader" of the Biafra movement. This statement was made by MASSOB's spokesperson, Edeson Samuel, amid a leadership crisis within IPOB, which has seen Kanu reportedly suspend IPOB's Director of State, Chika Edoziem.

This suspension has intensified tensions within the group and sparked reactions among pro-Biafra supporters. MASSOB expressed concern that the ongoing conflict could weaken the broader struggle for Biafra's self-determination.

They called for an end to hostilities and urged IPOB to focus on their common goal. Furthermore, MASSOB reiterated that the title of "Supreme Leader" does not officially exist within Biafraland and should not be attributed to any individual, as such a title belongs to God Almighty.

They also referenced a 2017 acknowledgment by the Biafra Peoples National Council (BPNC) that recognized Kanu as a major figure in the Biafra struggle but clarified that this recognition does not equate to crowning him as a supreme leader.
