Lagos Police Commissioner Advocates for Community Policing

At a stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the Area ‘E’ Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police Fatai called on Lagos residents to actively participate in community policing. He emphasized that crime prevention should be a collective responsibility involving residents, traditional institutions, youths, and Community Development Associations (CDAs).

Fatai acknowledged the Lagos State Government's efforts in public safety but warned that without resident cooperation, these efforts would not yield lasting results. He pointed out that residents are often the first to notice unusual activities in their neighborhoods, making their vigilance crucial for early detection of crime.

Fatai encouraged communities to strengthen communication with the police and report suspicious activities promptly. His views were supported by Prince Lanre Sanusi, Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, who stressed that security should not be solely the government's responsibility.

The meeting aimed to foster cooperation among police, local government, and community representatives to enhance neighborhood security in Lagos.
