Over 2,000 Villagers Flee Zamfara Amid Bandit Threats

Over 2,000 residents from various communities in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have fled their homes due to fears of planned reprisal attacks by bandits. Reports indicate that these villagers have abandoned their communities in the western part of the local government area, prompting security personnel to vacate certain areas.

Despite the deployment of security forces, the fear of bandits returning has heightened among the residents. Villagers from Kunchin Kalgo and neighboring areas have been seen moving towards the Tsafe local government headquarters for safety.

The mass movement of people was triggered by rumors, although members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have also vacated the area. The situation has raised concerns as the alleged withdrawal of security forces has allowed bandits to regroup, further escalating fears of reprisals among the residents.
