Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Re-election with 319,224 Votes, Sweeps All 16 LGAs

APC's Biodun Oyebanji secured a second term as Ekiti governor, defeating PDP's Wole Oluyede and ADC's Dare Bejide in Saturday's election.
The All Progressives Congress candidate Biodun Oyebanji has been proclaimed victor in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. Early on Sunday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission made its announcement through Chief Returning Officer Professor Adeniyi Oladiji, who verified that Oyebanji triumphed in all 16 local government areas throughout the state and thus achieved re-election.
Across polling units, Oyebanji accumulated 319,224 votes, equating to 84.95 per cent of valid ballots. His primary opponent, Dr.
Wole Oluyede representing the People's Democratic Party, secured 40,543 votes and finished well behind. The African Democratic Congress put forward Dare Bejide, who collected 12,872 votes for third place.
According to one account, candidate Opeyemi Falegan polled 564 votes as a minor contender. From 988,251 registered voters in the state, 384,940 participated and were accredited; across the state's polling units, 382,109 votes were tallied overall.
Upon learning of his victory, Governor Oyebanji asserted opponents could not secure any ward in the state. This remark reflected the overwhelming dominance demonstrated by the ruling APC during Saturday's election, with the party consolidating its grip on Ekiti's political landscape.
The electoral body verified Oyebanji satisfied all legal requirements necessary for his re-election. Polling proceeded across every local government area with no major irregularities reported.
Sunday morning saw the electoral commission's Ado-Ekiti office release the results.
