Oyetola Condemns Violence After Osun Election Killings

Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of Osun State, condemned the wave of post-election violence in Osun State. He called on security agencies to urgently arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killings, expressing concern over the escalating violence and loss of lives.

In a statement posted on his X handle, Oyetola described the attacks as a serious threat to peace and democratic values, asserting that no political or commercial interest could justify the killing of citizens. He commiserated with families of the victims and urged the Osun State Police Command to restore order in affected communities.

Oyetola called for increased security deployment to volatile areas and the recovery of public spaces from hoodlums. His comments followed reports of deadly clashes in Ikire, where at least five people were feared dead due to a dispute over control of a motor park, allegedly involving political thugs.

Tensions heightened after the election as rival political groups sought control over motor parks across the state.
