Oyo APC Criticizes Makinde Over EFCC Restraint

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Governor Seyi Makinde over a legal action taken by the state government that restrains the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from obtaining records of contracts awarded by his administration from 2021 to the present. This criticism was articulated in a statement by APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare, who expressed concerns regarding accountability in governance.

The Federal High Court in Ibadan granted the Oyo State Government's application, which the governor's media office stated prevents the EFCC from investigating potential corruption involving state officials. Sadare questioned why a governor would resist accountability for public funds and asserted that anti-corruption agencies would fulfill their duties.

He claimed that soon, the governor would be required to account for every kobo of Oyo money received over the last seven years, emphasizing the importance of scrutiny over state contracts and financial matters.
