Oyo APC Calls for EFCC Probe into N5.5bn Stadium Project

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the N5.5 billion Lekan Salami Stadium project. The call, made by APC's publicity secretary Olawale Sadare, follows the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) classification of the stadium as unsuitable for hosting matches of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

The APC criticized the Makinde administration for allegedly delivering substandard projects at inflated costs, referencing a recent incident where a newly commissioned road in Bodija Market was washed away by erosion. The party expressed disappointment that the disqualification of the stadium occurred just as the Shooting Stars prepared for their first continental engagement in 28 years, forcing the team to choose Abeokuta as their home venue for the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The APC's statement emphasized the need for accountability regarding the alleged mismanagement of funds related to the stadium renovation.
