Oyo Assembly Approves N330bn Supplementary Budget

The Oyo State House of Assembly approved Governor Seyi Makinde's request for a N330 billion supplementary budget during a plenary session on Wednesday, led by Speaker Rt. Hon.

Adebo Ogundoyin. This supplementary budget aims to accelerate the execution of key infrastructure projects and support various government programs across the state.

The budget was transmitted to the House and underwent first and second readings before being referred to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations for detailed scrutiny. Governor Makinde's letter to the House indicated that the request became necessary due to submissions from several ministries and agencies seeking additional budgetary allocations to facilitate the timely implementation of ongoing strategic projects.

The supplementary budget comprises N35.5 billion for recurrent expenditure and N294.5 billion for capital expenditure, with N120 billion sourced from realigned existing capital allocations and N210 billion constituting the supplementary budget. This adjustment increases Oyo State's total budget for 2026 to N1.102 trillion.
