Oyo State Raises 2026 Budget by N210 Billion for Projects

The Oyo State Executive Council has approved an upward review of the state’s 2026 budget by N210 billion, bringing the total to N1.10 trillion. This decision aims to accelerate the completion of critical infrastructure development projects across the state.

The revised budget now stands at N1,102,085,074,480.79, representing a 23.5% increase from the original appropriation of N892,085,074,480.79. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, following an Executive Council meeting.

The supplementary budget became necessary to accommodate additional funding requests from ministries and agencies responsible for delivering key government projects. Governor Seyi Makinde emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects before the end of his administration.

Additionally, the council authorized the release of N8.77 billion for procuring teaching and learning materials for primary and junior secondary schools, part of a larger educational project valued at N23.01 billion, implemented in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission and supported by the World Bank.
